Everyone poses to be a blogger these days. However, blog post writing is not as easy as it sounds. It isn’t about writing anything that comes to your mind. Whether it is a personal blog or a professional one intended to raise awareness about a topic or product, you have to abide by certain rules and steer clear of some. It takes years to build a good reputation. However, one grave mistake can destroy it all. That is why it is more important to know what you shouldn’t do in your blog.

Let us have a look at the six gravest sins you cannot afford to commit as a blogger:

Posting content that lacks focus: Every blog should have a purpose. You may have diverse interests like cooking, dancing and technology but packing everything in a single blog is not recommended at all. You may think that your readers will get a lot of variety but it will only confuse them. Not targeting a specific niche simply means talking to the whole world which doesn’t really serve any purpose. When you target a particular niche, you ensure that your information reaches a particular group of people more quickly, thereby increasing site traffic.

Easily getting offended: Entering a public forum means opening yourself up to critique and criticism. You have to learn the art of taking criticism in your stride and moving on. Do not allow negative comments to get the better of you. Instead, learn from them in case there is something noteworthy in the comments. If the comments are really personal and are meant to malign you, simply ignore them or give a decent reply. It will only help in strengthening your reputation.

Giving up easily: You cannot expect to become famous or rich overnight by blogging. Blog post writing is a lot of hard work and requires utmost dedication and patience. Do not write posts with the intention of earning quick money. Instead, write only when you have something worthwhile to say. If you are perseverant and stick to your aim, you can expect to gain heavily from your blog post writing in a day.

Using poor grammar and spelling: Never forget to check your spellings and grammar at least twice before submitting your posts. Nothing is more irksome than reading an interesting blog which contains several spelling and grammatical errors. And in the online world, such mistakes are totally unpardonable because they will prompt the reader to just click away and move on to a more comprehensible option. What is more, they will probably never come back to your site again.

Updating posts randomly: Repeat customers are necessary to make a blog a success. You can ensure that only if you follow a specific update pattern. For instance, you cannot post continuously for 5 to 6 days in a row and then disappear for months. It will leave your readers clueless.

Copying other’s content: This is a strict no-no when it comes to blogging or any form of writing for that matter. You should never copy other’s work or make slight alterations in someone else’s work and call it your own.

Avoid these cardinal sins in blog post writing and success will follow soon.
